The most interesting people!

According to Sandra and John, one of the benefits of being innkeepers at Woodland Trails is the opportunity to meet interesting people..

One couple, Amy and Bill from San Diego, California, were especially interesting. Bill is on an adventure to ride his bike across the entire country. Sometimes Amy rides with him and, at other times, she drives along behind. They started in Oregon, so Minnesota is their half way point. Their eventual destination is Bar Harbor, Maine where Bill is already looking forward to a big lobster dinner.

Bill rides about 60 miles per day. For overnight, sometimes they stay in their small motor home, sometimes they stay in a motel, especially if they need to do laundry, and sometimes they stay in a bed and breakfast like Woodland Trails.

Besides riding for fun, Bill and Amy also have a bigger mission. They are collecting donations for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), an organization that encourages and supports handicapped athletes. CAF awards dozens of grants each year, amounting to several hundred to a few thousand dollars each. Interestingly, people in Minnesota are leading recipients of the grants, with 26 awarded last year.

Before leaving on their adventure, Bill and Amy had collected $100,000 in contributions. They have collected another $25,000 so far along the way.
