Sandhill Cranes have become frequent visitors at Woodland Trails. The first sighting of these unusual birds was reported five years ago by B & B guests when they exclaimed, “We think we saw two prehistoric birds on one of the fields!”Recently, innkeeper John and guest Jim, while driving a golf cart, encountered a pair of cranes with a newly-born colt. (Yes, Google says the young are called colts because of their well-developed legs. They can run with mom and dad just a day after hatching.) With the colt nearby, the adults did a nice show for John and Jim and one posed for this photo.
